The Core Team

The key to good filmmaking is having a good team. It is also what makes filmmaking so much fun. It might start as one person's idea, but the end result is so much more than that. The collaboration is not only between the director and the actors, though certainly the actors have a huge contribution to make. Well before the actors are even selected, people are joining the team who will have a incredible impact on the final product. It is important to put together a team that is talented, invested in the story being told, and is easy to work with. The first few key people can make or break a film.

Here is who we have so far:

Kristin Holodak - Writer/Director
Kristin Holodak has been drawn to image making ever since she was a child and begged her dad to let her hold the family camera while on vacation, and then snuck a picture after being explicitly told not to touch any of the buttons. She has spent most of her career creating educational videos, most recently about the arts for the Smithsonian Institution and the Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts. While she truly believes in the mission of making the arts accessible and understandable to the general public, it doesn't quite use up all of her creative juices. Ghost Tours will be her sixth film under the Heron Media banner. Past films include the award winning Killer, which is currently on the festival circuit.

Aaron Bland - Producer
Aaron is a current MFA Film Production candidate at Boston University.  Born and raised in Washington, D.C., Aaron has always had a passion for performance in the visual arts.  A recent graduate from Guilford College, he got his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, with minors in both Film and Sociology.  Specializing in direction/producing, Aaron hopes to take advantage of current and emerging forms of media to tell his/other people’s stories.

Lauren Scully - Director of Photography
With a life long interest and passion for making art, Lauren Scully has channeled this energy into photography and filmmaking. “Growing up in a house full of artists, visual language is my native language and speaking through the camera, is the best way I know how to communicate,” she says. In 2010, she graduated with her BFA in Studio Art Photography from Texas Tech University with a Video Production Certificate from South Plains College in Texas, and is now completing her MFA in Film Production with an emphasis in Cinematography at Boston University to graduate in May 2014. With 2 thesis short films under her belt, Scully is excited to be working on Ghost Tours and is gathering visual elements and storyboarding as we speak.
